Our stock range includes conference cameras from big name brands such as Microsoft and Logitech. If you’re currently using your laptop or mobile device for web based meetings you’ll no doubt appreciate that image and sound quality are somewhat lacklustre. Most laptops are physically too thin and small to accommodate high quality webcams and speakers. This may not be an issue if you only have the odd video call now and again but if web meetings are a regular part of your working week, you’ll benefit from using higher quality cameras and speakers.

As well as superior picture and sound quality, using dedicated webcams and speakers or a soundbar offer several other advantages. Dedicated webcams will typically feature higher resolution sensors for brighter, sharper images. They tend to work better in low light conditions and often have a wider field of view which means you don’t need to be sat right in front of the laptop to be in the picture frame during calls. It also allows for multiple people to be visible at once which is great for small meeting room usage for example. Some of the more premium webcam models come with advanced features including pan, zoom and tilt allowing you to move and adjust the picture as needed.

Many dedicated webcams also include integrated mics and speakers which typically offer better sound quality than a laptop. Some models have the option of plugging in an expansion microphone allowing you to extend the audio range by several metres - useful if you need to involve several people in a small meeting room without everyone having to crowd around your screen to be heard.

When only the best sound quality will do, look to buy a dedicated set of speakers and standalone microphone or alternatively, choose from a range of powerful soundbars offering exceptional sound clarity. Soundbars usually include an array of speakers capable of pumping out rich, immersive sound with a wider field of coverage than a laptop or phone can provide. Many models also include noise cancellation capabilities to strip out background noise, remove echoes and eliminate distracting noise interference during calls. You can pair a soundbar with your phone or computing device and they work with all the video conferencing apps and cloud software you’re already using.
